“It’s More Than Just Sneakers” 2019 Recap

Another day, another sneaker event!

The Kickz Stand, an Australian-based lifestyle community, held their first Melbourne event for their lifestyle tour: “It’s More Than Just Sneakers”. As the name suggests, the event consisted of several vendors providing a wide range of products; from sneakers, to streetwear, all the way to art and illustrations. With their focus of community in mind, we thought it was a no-brainer for us to get involved with the shenanigans!

We released our Autumn/Winter Collection early to give people a sneak peek of what to expect for the official late-July release. We introduced our AW19 collection concept “Human Again”, which resonated with people who were curious and intrigued.

The day was jam packed with raffle giveaways from local sponsors and entertainment from young, talented artists, showcasing their rap, beatboxing and dance skills on stage. We met with a diverse range of people, from sneakerheads, young entrepreneurs flipping hype merch and folks from the neighbourhood just curious as to what the event was all about.

As a team, we were surprised with the interactions we had on our table. We had some great conversations with young families and individuals about life and how sneakers and streetwear has influenced us over time. Those stories and experiences shared were a reflection of why we started Overhill - expressing our lives and our experiences through a simple garment.

The biggest thing that shocked us was how well we pushed Overhill! We were so happy with that result and we just want to say a massive thank you to those who supported us by purchasing our merch!

What we took away from this event was the importance of community. Being able to connect with content makers, local businesses and fellow vendors made us feel like we were apart of something great. To everyone we interacted with, thank you for your kind words and conversations.
